Casting Shadows

Casting Shadows presents a quiet ocean view under a shifting, cloudy sky. I’m grateful for how watercolor allows layered grays and muted blues to suggest movement where water meets cloud. The soft transitions and lifted highlights express a calm that’s always changing.

I built the scene with transparent washes, wet-on-wet passages, and delicate brushwork to create texture on the water and a distant horizon that grounds the composition. Watercolor painting- 9 in. x 6 in.
