Grateful for the Never Ending Routine

Grateful for the Never Ending Routine  — a watercolor that presents a quiet moment on the farm. A lone figure crosses the pasture toward a sun-warmed barn, fences leading the eye toward distant blue mountains... trees tuck behind the roof, and the sky holds a cool, pale hush. I used layered transparent washes and restrained wet-into-wet passages to suggest depth, with careful brushwork and a bit of drybrush to bring texture to the roof and fence. The paper’s white becomes the highlight on the corrugated metal and the path underfoot.

Painted in Plein Air, a scene that brings gratitude for the farmer and the life long dedication to the work that it requires.
